The Institute will be presenting the next one hour webinar for the membership [and guests] on Wednesday 15th December 2021.
This webinar will be presented by Simon Brown of Accupixel and will provide an overview of Creating and Sharing 3D Reconstructions using Agisoft’s Metashape.
For those that have not yet used photogrammetry this will be an interesting insight into this ever improving area now commonly being used by accident investigators, and for those already using this for producing 3D environments and plans you will see what is currently happening in the changing world of photogrammetry, including a demonstration of the new free to use viewer software.
Repeatable, accurate 3D reconstruction has traditionally been the preserve of top-end hardware. RTK survey drones, DSLR cameras and accurate GPS equipment have been the go-to kit, but as price and capability of action cameras and consumer drones has improved the potential for quality 3D reconstruction output has come of age.
The second issue has been a lack of downstream viewing, measuring and analysis tools that are simple to use with basic training. The recent release of Agisoft’s Viewer has released the potential to revolutionise how the consumers of 3D data interact with models, ortho photos and digital elevation models – and the Viewer is a free download.
This webinar will take a deeper look into how cost effective cameras and drones can be used to generate accurate and repeatable photogrammetry, complete with scaling and geo referencing in Metashape Professional, the quality of the outputs and how the Viewer can be used to review, interrogate, analyse and communicate with anyone.
The webinar is scheduled to last an hour, with a Q&A session at the end to answer any specific questions.
