Vehicle Collision Data Analysis by Craig Arnold
Craig Arnold is a Senior Consultant in Forensic Collision Investigation at TRL, formerly the Transport Research Laboratory. He is a technical lead at TRL and is in charge of their collision investigation service to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Craig has spent over a decade specialising in road collisions and has international casework experience involving collisions in South America, Africa, and Europe. He is a specialist in commercial vehicles following a 16-year career with Merseyside Police, but his current practice and research is focussed on digital data and video analysis. He has written papers on both topics and has provided consultancy to both companies and government organisations related to connected and autonomous vehicles.
His role at TRL involves managing their work with the United Nations and providing expert witness and consultancy services to organisations across the transport and legal sectors, and to governmental organisations. He is an expert witness and has given evidence across the judiciary including Criminal, Civil, Coroner’s courts, and public inquiries.
Other than his work at TRL, Craig is a peer-reviewer for Elsevier’s Science and Justice Journal and the SAE and sits on the board at the Chartered Society of Forensic Science.
